Second Thing: UNDERSTAND!
To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven — Ecclesiastes 3:1.
As you must’ve heard, auspicious times are here, the next line that always follows after is “Use the times well."
What exactly is auspicious about timings?
This brings us to the words: CHRONOS & KAIROS. The terms might not be new to you, but for some, it’s just another Greek word they wouldn’t give two cents about.
I give two cents about everything, so, please, allow me to request your indulgence.
Chronos is the chronological measurement of time (hours, weeks, months, and years). On the other hand, Kairos is an opportune time, moment, or season—an opportunity presented to correct past mistakes. An opportunity to build momentum and to potentially change ones life!
To fully maximize the times we are in, convictions & clarity need to be birthed so we wouldn’t waste yet another auspicious time. Inarguably, the wisdom and power of God have to be in full operation ‘cause the devil isn’t ignorant of the happenings.
Vusi Thembekwayo said something striking in his podcast: 'Many people will recognize the year as an opportunity, but the trauma, fear, or plans from the previous year can act as a hold or barricade to their advancement.' I couldn’t agree more.
The year has just begun and I’ve already missed an opportunity because, in my mind, it seemed way bigger than the ones I’d ever gone for. I felt like I wouldn’t fit into that space; It’s not for someone like me (or so I thought).
Despite the cues from the Holy Spirit urging me to seize the opportunity, I found myself frozen in indecision.
A few days after immersing myself in religious jamboree and gymnastics, and subsequently talking myself out of the opportunity, because that was what I did, the Holy Spirit asked, 'What is something for someone like you?' I won’t divulge the details of His dealings, but after that encounter, it became clear that my MIND would be the only stronghold in times like these, and I have to intentionally fight it.
I realized that a moment like this had presented itself years ago, but I bailed out because I felt and thought it wasn’t meant for someone like me. This, I tag — Lack of UNDERSTANDING.
Do I regret it? Yes. However, if I don’t learn from the lessons, prepare, be strategic, and intentional, I’ll keep missing my Kairos moments and having more regrets.
It’s 3 days to wrap up January, we have February to December left. This is me saying, to you—the YEAR is Kairos.
What plans have you made to fight yourself and your mind?
In the past weeks, I engaged in strategic and mind-boggling conversations with my friends, coach, mentors, and my Dad. I deduced that, although the devil can be tricky, OUR MIND can and will always be either our major hindrance from seizing what we perceive as significant or our cheerleader to grabbing the things we term BIG.
As I prayed and penned down this year’s goals, I added a footnote—GOODNESS, the only competition you have is yourself, and the only thing capable of holding you down is still yourself, not your family’s financial situation, not your environment, nothing whatsoever!
One of my friends' favorite scriptures is Isaiah 60:1-3, I added it to my list of scriptures for the year.
Verse 1 says, “Arise, shine! For thy light has come and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee." Trust me, there will be no shining if we don’t live with a sense of urgency, understanding that time ticks, or recognizing who we are as light and the glory made accessible unto us as God’s children.
Verse 3 says, “And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising." Nobody of this caliber will come if we have nothing outstanding to offer.
Often, we’ve painted/portrayed God as One who reneges on His word, yet, we fail to uphold our end of the bargain because we lack the understanding of WHAT TO DO even after praying. So, I ask again, what action plans have you put in place to BE and LIVE God’s words?
May it not be said or heard that such an auspicious season as this came and passed due to a lack of understanding.
Pray! Seek! Get clarity and understand what is required of you. Know what should be your major and what should be your minor.
It’s another opportunity to change your life in a wholesome way. You can decide not to even after reading this, but one thing you shouldn’t give in to—is the trick of the mind.
God is ready, but are you?
My salutation to you remains the same.
Happy Aligned New Year,
Your Friend, Goodie.
