LETTER TO HER.
Dear Miss Independent,
I see how much work you’ve been putting in to become that best version of yourself.
The sleep hours you’ve embraced to be your most productive, and mornings you’ve dedicated to researching and keeping up with the world, I see all.
I know you’ve cried your eyes out and wondered if it’s really worth it.
I know how exhausting it gets having to be the one paying the bills, thinking of what to eat, what to wear, looking out for your needs and wants and still holding onto every word God has said about you.
It isn’t unnoticed.
Choosing to be a career-driven lady in this part of the world, has to be the tackiest thing to do, and you are deserving of all the applause, hugs, and yippee!
People tend to act condescending toward you. Even the educated ones are not left out.
From the way you walk, to how you choose to act in public and behind closed doors—to the way you speak, dress, and prefer to be addressed, and to how neck-dipped you are in pursuing your goals and becoming, you become a threat to them.
Even in a room full of other career-driven humans, it doesn't get any better when you have a position that beats theirs hands-down or you know what they don't.
It gets super annoying when you are expected to dream-not-so-big, but it's pertinent you understand that you are GROWTH and STRENGTH for choosing to go above the status quo, break the glass, and have that big name.
And it's not your fault that you are smashing everything big, they just need to grow up and accept the big YOU.
Just like growth requires nurturing through proper care and attention, you also need nurturing through love, support, and encouragement to reach your full potential.
Just as a seed has the potential to grow into a mighty tree, you have the potential to achieve every great thing you set your mind to.
Yes, it will take time. But, you can't give up now, not when you are already making waves and hitting those milestones.
Remember that not everyone will love and appreciate you, but the ones who do, are the realest gees.
It's no promise that you won't get overwhelmed or feel stuck, but it's important to remember that it's a common experience and something that many people go through at various points in their lives.
So, just before you think of signing out of your process story, know that someone right here is rooting for you.
Time, consistency, and patience will birth all the baby treatments you’ve envisaged
Yours Independently,
Your guyest guy.
